Comparative Business Report
General Ledger Menu -> Reports
-> Comparative Business Report
Choose this option to print a comparative report, showing one
time period compared to another.
This report can be generated at any time, for any date range
combinations, for any layout setup as Type O (Other) in Statement Layouts.
Budgets can also be printed.
For confidential purposes, special Security
Roles can be defined, limiting access to this report through
Menu Security.
The prompts are:

- LAYOUT NUMBER
- Enter an existing layout code or select from the eligible
layout codes in the drop-down list.
Only Type O (Other) layouts can be used for this report.
Layouts can be setup in Statement Layouts.
The layout description will print on the financial business
report as the report title.
PRINT DIVISION DETAIL
- This is an information display field only.
If the report layout has been setup in Statement Layouts with divisions specified in the
G/L account detail, then this report will automatically be printed
in division detail and this box will be checked to identify that
this feature is being used.
If the layout has NOT been setup with division detail, this box
will display unchecked.
DIVISION, "ALL" OR "SEL"
- This field is skipped if the selected layout has been designed
to print the G/L accounts using division detail.
All divisions will automatically be included and the report will
respect the divisions specified in the layout setup.
If the layout is not setup to Print Division Detail, a
division range can be specified.
- Type ALL to include all divisions in the report.
- To print the report for a single division, leave this field
blank for the Head Office Division, or enter a specific division
code, or select a division from the drop-down list.
- Type SEL to select multiple divisions or use Accounting regions
to include in the report, as outlined in Division Select By Region.
Note: This G/L report does not respect Divisional Restricted Views set by operator
assigned Access Values.
1st COLUMN:
-
- PERIOD 1 START
- Enter the beginning date of the first column, where this is
year one for the compare.
e.g. 04/01/XXX1
- PERIOD 1 END
- Enter the ending date of the first column.
e.g. 04/30/XXX1
- TRANSACTION LOCATION
- Select one of:
- Select Current use the posted transactions from the
current GL file.
- Select History to use the transaction detail from the GL
history created when the GL was compressed.
2nd COLUMN:

- PERIOD 2 START
- Enter the beginning date of the first column, where this is
year two for the compare.
e.g. 04/01/XXX2
- PERIOD 2 END
- Enter the ending date of the first column.
e.g. 04/30/XXX2
- TRANSACTION LOCATION
- Select one of:
- Select Current use the posted transactions from the
current GL file.
- Select History to use the transaction detail from the GL
history created when the GL was compressed.
- Select Ignore to exclude this column completely from the
report.
3rd COLUMN:

- PERIOD 3 START
- Enter the beginning date of the first column, where this is
year three.
e.g. 04/01/XXX3
- PERIOD 3 END
- Enter the ending date of the first column.
e.g. 04/30/XXX3
- TRANSACTION LOCATION
- Select one of:
- Select Current use the posted transactions from the
current GL file.
- Select History to use the transaction detail from the GL
history created when the GL was compressed.
- Select Ignore to exclude this column completely from the
report.
PRINT BUDGET AMOUNTS
- Uncheck this box to suppress the budget amount columns.
Check this box to print the budget amounts for each account in each
time period, as established in Enter
Budgets.
PRINT SUMMARY BY ACCOUNT
- If the layout has NOT been setup specifically with details by
division, then this prompt applies.
Check this box to print only the account totals.
Uncheck this box to print the report with totals by account within
division.
REPORT OPTIONS
- This value defaults to the operator preference as defined in
Operators.
Select one of the output options to Print a report or export
the data to Excel as outlined in Report Options.
Note: Generally spreadsheet output does not include totals, as
the spreadsheet tools can be used to formulate and manipulate the
data.
However because this report is generated from a Layout, the
totals and subtotals defined by the layout are respected.
Finished?
- Click the ACCEPT button to generate the report, or CANCEL to
abort.
