The Image ID scanner can be used only by Windows workstations, and is triggered in the header of the counter documents in the same manner as explained for the Driver's License Data Scanners.
The Driver's License scan features can be activated in the Divisional Contract Parameters.
Note: This feature is not supported in Web App sessions.
If activated and the workstation is Green Screen character
based, the processing reverts to the Mag-Stripe card scan as
explained in Driver's License Data
Scanners.
If the ID scan option has been activated and the workstation is
Windows GUI, then only the ID scan processing is applied and the
Mag Strip card reader is deactivated.
Contact Texada Software for information about the compatible Image scanners.
When a license card is scanned the scanner encodes the image and
information to text and displays back only the picture and
signature if it is on the front of the license. The address
information is captured and displayed in the appropriate data
fields, rather than as an image.
For security purposes, a complete actual image of the entire
license is not displayed.
If the scanner recognizes that the image or the information
retrieval may be poor quality, it will prompt the operator to
re-calibrated the scanner. This often occurs after 20 to 30
scans.
Two "Calibration" cards are included with the scanner kit. It is
important to keep these cards in a convenient accessible location
near the scanners. If the re-calibration is not completed upon
request, the image quality could diminish and the wear on the
scanner is increased.
A Cleaning kit is also supplied with the scanner. Refer to the instructions included with the scanner for further information.
To scan a Driver's License, place the license card in the scan
folder that is provided with the scanner equipment, with the front
of the card facing towards the clear side and aligned to top left
corner. Then put the scan folder in the scan tray with clear side
facing down and press <ENTER> to continue on the screen, or
click on this Scan button in the window.
To ensure better image scan solution, it is suggested to give a
soft push at the enter of the scan folder at the start of
scanning.
In order to read the Driver's License the scanner must identify
the format of the license per country and province/state
designs.
When an image is scanned the Country initially defaults according
to the currency code (U, C, A) in Company
Information and the Province or State defaults according to the
operator's division code as assigned in Operators applying the Division address Prov/State
as determined by Divisions.
If this is not correct for the customer's license, the scanned information will be incorrect. Select to scan the license again, but before initiating the scan, correct the country or province/state information using the drop-down boxes, displayed in the scan request window.
Valid Country, Province/State Codes include: Country codes: "US" or "USA" Valid State Codes: "AL" "AK" "AZ" "AR" "CA" "CO" "CT" "DE" "DC" "GA" "HI" "ID" "IL" "IN" "IA" "KS" "KY" "LA" "ME" "MD" "MA" "FL" "MI" "MN" "MS" "MO" "MT" "NE" "NV" "NH" "NJ" "NM" "NY" "NC" "ND" "OH" "OK" "OR" "PA" "RI" "SC" "SD" "TN" "TX" "UT" "VT" "VA" "WA" "WV" "WI" "WY" Country codes: "CA" or "CAN" Valid State Codes: "AB" "BC" "MB" "NB" "NF" "NT" "NS" "ON" "QC/PQ" "SK" Country codes: "AU" or "AUS" Valid State Codes: "NS/NSW" "CT/ACT" "QL/QLD" "VI/VIC" "TS/TAS" "WA" "SA" "NT"An optional driver's license mask can be defined by province or state in Driver's License Masks so that when the license is entered at the counter on the invoice, contract, etc., the dashes do not have to be entered. The sequence of letters and numbers must match the mask for the province/state.
After scanning the license successfully, review all the information for accuracy and any information can be manually over-typed before clicking OK to accept.
Note: The accuracy % value of the scanned image and data is displayed at the bottom on the ID scan image. Before accepting the ID scan, verify each data field displayed on the screen against the customer's Driver's License for accuracy, and correct any misreads or re-scan the card.
The Driver's License ID scan feature is available in the counter documents including Contracts, Counter Worksheet, Reservations, Quotations, Point Of Sale Invoices, and Miscellaneous Invoices as outlined in Driver's License Data Scanners.
The scanned license information can later be viewed in Customer Information, Customer Information Inquiry, and in Customer Payments.
